Hi I’m Megan!

travel is my joie de vivre, it’s what brings me joy. I would love to capture your story wherever it is in the world!

I’ve got an inbuilt compass always pointing to the next adventure

I’m so happy you’ve stumbled across my little part of the internet and that you’re thinking of me to document your day. My full name is Megan McEachern - the worst name to spell over the phone - but my friends call me Megs, Meggy, Meg, Meggers - take your pick!

I grew up on the Isle of Arran in Scotland and have a huge affinity for my home country, especially the Highlands and Islands. But I’m also an explorer and I’ve lived all over the world, including two years in Australia, and most recently New Zealand. I’m chilled and friendly, love a good chat and a laugh and I get on best with people who don’t take themselves too seriously.

I have a background in documentary production at the BBC as well as multimedia and features journalism, which led me to travel and performance photography and then on to weddings and elopements.

Essentially, I’ve always loved to tell people’s stories. And I’d be honoured to capture yours.

the new friend

Many of the couples I capture tell me that working with me was like hanging out with an old friend, and that’s exactly how I want you to feel too.

The more relaxed you feel with me, and the more we get to know each other, the better your images will be as I can reflect more fully who you are. I totally get that you might feel awkward at first, or that you don’t think you’re photogenic - pretty much every couple tells me this! But believe me, most people tell me afterwards they had loads of fun - and that they actually forgot to feel awkward. Don’t worry, I got you!

the feeling

Your wedding is the amalgamation of hundreds of tiny moments and your photography should be a reflection of that.

I want my imagery to bring back how the sand in your toes felt as you walked along the beach for your couple portraits after you say I do, or how the lengthening shadows on the grass signalled it was definitely time to dance, or how that gust of wind on the mountain came at the same time you had your first kiss as a married couple.

the style

My style is timeless, filmic and subtly bold to bring out the emotion. It’s influenced by my background in travel photography and documentaries and my inherent love for story telling and details.

I’m a documentary photographer, which means I want to capture all those intimate in-between snippets so that you forget nothing. Because it’s not always just the big moments that mean the most to you – sometimes it’s that little line in the ceremony that makes you tear up, or the hug your gran gives you, or seeing a friend who’s flown in all the way from Australia to be there with you.

I know I personally love photos of me and my loved ones we didn’t even know were being taken - the ones where the real emotion is on show - and that’s what you’ll get from me. Don’t worry, I always provide the ‘granny mantelpiece’ group shots too and I do prompt as much as is needed during your couple’s shoot. But for the most part I’ll be blending into the background. It’s your day, I’m just here to capture it in all its glory.
